Have you seen the fairies in the trees?
Cleverly camouflaged on the forest ground,
Flying quicker than a summer breeze.
They never zoom close to rivers or seas;
To wet your wings is to make you frown.
Can you spot the fairies in the trees?
Their favourite food to eat with glee,
Stolen from fridges without a sound,
Quicker than your winter sneeze,
Is chicken eggs and cheddar cheese!
Scrambled up in a pan they found,
Where do they hide, these fairies in the trees?
Having breakfast for dinner! With bread and with teas,
Served up on some rocks all smoothed and round,
Gobbled up quicker than you can touch your knees.
Dishes are cleaned with a thank you and please,
Then they all snore away in flowy bedgowns,
Falling asleep quicker than a summer breeze.
How peaceful they look, those fairies in the trees.
Below are some notes about this piece, including the thoughts and external inspirations that occurred during its creation.
Bear in mind, this is simply what I was thinking of when I wrote these poems and what they mean to me. If you interpreted them differently, that does not diminish how you felt as the reader nor the correctness/incorrectness of what you were thinking. Poetry is subjective, and so is being alive.
